GREEN LIVING HOUSES
Information
What are the chemicals inside the nutritional water?
These nutrients are mostly inorganic and are in the forms of ions. They are divided into two categories: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those that plants need in large amounts, including carbon, phosphorous, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. Micronutrients are needed in tiny amounts but are essential. These include zinc, nickel, boron, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, boron, and chlorine.
Chemical composition in a soil
-
Top four elements—Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen
-
Macronutrients—Phosphorus, Sulphur, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium
-
Micronutrients or trace elements—Boron, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Molybdenum, Zinc and Chlorine
-
Neutral pH—6.3-6.8 is ideal for most plants
Why is rockwool used?
Rockwool is commonly used in hydroponics because it is pH neutral and the air-pockets formed in it’s creation makes it ideal for retaining oxygen and moisture which are the two main things plants need in their root zone.
What if we give too much or too little sunlight?
Plants have different types of sunlight exposure. If your plant is exposed with too much sunlight, they may overheat and have burned patches. If the plant is given too little sunlight, the leaves will turn yellow and die and it will also slow down the growth of the leaves.
Why do we need to add compost in soil media?
Provides organic matter and natural nutrients for flowers and vegetables. Most frequently and most usefully, compost is added to your garden as a soil amendment to improve soil structure, buffer pH, increase the population of micro- and macro-organisms, and add organic material on which soil organisms feed.
Why can some fruits and vegetables grow in bucket hydroponic while some can’t grow in net pot?
Net pot hydroponic uses less water than bucket , vegetables like spinach if planted in bucket hydroponic will drown and die.
